Compassionate counseling for individuals & groups
Hi & welcome!
Young adults, college students, women navigating fertility, couples, parents, families, first responders and other professionals in high stress environments are all good fits for my style.
Depression, anxiety, trauma, pre and post partum, parenting, relationships—these are a few of my specialty areas. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, animal assisted therapy, my experience as a certified yoga instructor, and my ongoing training in working with trauma. You can expect compassion, warmth, humor, and a direct approach in sessions. I aim to restore your sense of self and help you reclaim joy. And yes, joy can exist amongst hardship!
I’m glad you’re here. I’m Brittany, wife, mom, and therapist. I love being outdoors, animals, yoga, sports, travel and family. I have spent over a decade working in the field of mental health and believe firmly in the resilience of human beings. You are intelligent, strong, and resourceful, but right now you need a little extra support during this time in life.
Experiences in life aren’t always rewarded with an easy path. You don’t have to walk it alone, I am here to be your guide! Through regular sessions, tools, ongoing contact and emotional support there is hope to regain footing on your path.
I am currently accepting a few new clients for 2024, I look forward to working with you!

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) a type of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals identify and change patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to their emotional distress or mental health issues.
Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) is a dynamic treatment approach. Therapy becomes hands-on and experiential with the inclusion of a horse. Horses serve as a mirror to our emotional state and provide us with nonjudgmental, honest, in the moment feedback. EFP is a universal treatment method that can benefit all ages and a wide variety of mental/behavioral health issues such as anxiety, depression, other mood disorders, post partum, relationships, and trauma!
A licensed mental health professional with equine expertise or in the presence of one with such expertise, along with horses, work together in sessions.
All sessions are performed unmounted. Clients are given specific activities to work alongside the horses to achieve their treatment goals in a farm setting. Each session aims to maximize growth potential!
A great article on the theory behind this approach:

Mindfulness therapy, often referred to as mindfulness-based therapy (MBT), is an approach to mental health treatment that incorporates principles of mindfulness meditation and practice. It involves techniques aimed at increasing awareness of the present moment, accepting one's thoughts and feelings without judgment, and cultivating a sense of compassion towards oneself and others.

An in your pocket and on your shoelace pony. We owned her mama, Blue, who was the sweetest kids riding pony! Blue didn’t make it shortly after she foaled, but in the midst of grief and loss an “olive branch” emerged. An opportunity for life and learning. Olive helped start our equine therapy program!
A timid, wise old soul. Phoenix loves far and wide but from very afar. She loves to watch and wants to be included, but there is some deep rooted fear in Phoenix. She was adopted to the farm and we do not know her full history. Her behavior tells us it’s one of trauma. We learn how not all wounds can be perfectly healed and put back together but there can be our own version of what we learn to be safe.
Came to us a Unicorn! From Kansas, a ranch, trail, kids and cow horse! Rascal has been there and seen more than most of us ever will. Amidst his diverse experiences, numerous handlers, variety and spice in life have turned this man into a beautiful soul who loves people. He feels like velvet, reads you like a novel, and listens like Freud. I think he is the ultimate therapy horse!
A baby Gypsy filly. Luna is training to be my assistant in the therapy process.
